1. Taybeh October Fest held Oct 1-2,
2005, a first time event in Palestine was hosted on the grounds of
the municipality boosting the local economy by selling products
produced in Taybeh to over 8,000 visitors including many
dignitaries. Festival sponsors were IOCC; UNDP/PAPP; KAS;
Representative Office of Germany and personal support of the Belgium
Consul.
2. Contacted Riwaq, Centre for
Architectural Conservation, to protect the identity of the old city
of Taybeh starting with a survey determining how the ancient homes
can be preserved funded by SIDA.
3. A dinner meeting was hosted by the
municipality for all Taybeh residents living in the Diaspora who
were visiting Taybeh in the summer of 2005 to encourage people to
return and invest in their homeland possibly helping the
municipality create income generating projects.
4. Twin city cooperation with the
Italian cities of Assisi and Marsala to strengthen educational,
social, cultural and economic aspects of life.
5. A new worker was assigned to the
Taybeh cemetery to maintain the grounds funded by Mr. Jalal Mansour
of Taybeh. A guard was hired for the olive tree groves to protect
the agricultural areas in the village.
6. Fifty street lights were added for
streets needing electricity.
7. The function hall of the
municipality was furnished with chairs, tables, small kitchen and
refrigerators to host special events.
8. The mayor’s office was renovated,
creating an additional secretarial office & new windows.
9. Protecting newly paved road in an
upcoming residential neighborhood by pouring concrete on both sides
of the street and repairing all pot holes throughout the village.
10. Educational and musical events
were organized including performances by the Bible Society, Spafford
Children’s Center, and Kamajati Orchestra.
11. Updated all building permits and
issuing new permits according to municipality standards and rules
thereby avoiding building violations. Furthermore, the engineering
department prepared a major town plan mapping all streets and
identifying Taybeh boarders.
12. Prepared many proposals directed
to NGOs dealing with infrastructure to especially get help with new
roads, expansion of water lines and electricity. Trying to match
needed projects with international donor support. Thank you to all
